post-war visor in my opinion.....

The visor bill , the material on the bill's brim , de black "mohair" cap band , the interior..... not typical 3 Reich materials in my opinion......

Knauth was a wartime maker during the TR, but is uncommonly found.
I think the hat has a chance--it appears to be late-war in construction, with a cardboard visor and a bevo-style ribbed band.
I agree, the trim on the visor is not coated oilcloth, but it could be some wartime composite material.

All I am saying is that I would not rule it out based on these pics alone.

The same thick plastic-like brim can be seen on this post-war ( 1956 ) Bundes Marine visor cap.....
Not a cap for me..... just my opinion.....

I did not like it either but have taken note of Stoney's comments..................if it is a one off visor for your collection I would buy one of a more standard construction, plenty about. best to be safe than sorry.

This one would be hard to sell on and you are taking a chance buying it.
