To start with the insignia - they are both bad and i believe the cap too. Study the genuine examples on the Forum.....

just had a look at the button - what is it made of - plastic? Have a look at the reverse! What do the letters say? PU? Some more pictures of this button might help the specialists - which I am not for this kind of cap which I don't like too much due to the workmanship (reverse of the visor etc.)

The button is a barkelit DJ button (Deutsche Jungvolk which was the pre-Hitler Jugend organisation). Nobody can tell how it ended up on a SS cap.

Is the insignia a known fake?

You are right, but my problem is I cannot find matching insignia neither among fakes or originals on the forum.
