Need Help Identifying a German Peaked Cap!!

OK, so I recently obtained a (what I believe) German peaked cap. I have never really collected things like this and even though I have done research, I have not been able to find out much about the cap. It's a little beat up, with no eagle and frayed ends. Also, I am wondering if it is legit or not. Here are some pictures:

Hi Phil, and welcome to the forum!

The pics are not great but I am seeing some problems here:

The chinstrap is certainly incorrect.
The ink stamp is bogus.

It appears to be a Heer (Army) cap. But at present the only part which appears to be original is the wreath and cockade. But we really need clear pics taken in daylight. I am not even sure of the colour at the moment.

At present I would say fake.

Hi and welcome to the forum my friend,at a guess i would say that it looks like a west german luftwaffe cap from these pictures.Hard to tell as the images really need to be much clearer.The cockade may be WW2 though.

The object is likely a 1960s Bundeswehr cap as mentioned above.
