Need some opinions on this White Kriegsmarine Feldmutze...

Hi all,

Someone recently contacted me with these photos of their white Kriegsmarine feldmutze and I'd like to get some opinions. I can't find any to compare to so I'm bringing it to the experts. Hopefully these shots are enough to give you guys the data and detail you need to give me some opinions...

I collect WW2 German Visor Caps.

I dont like the eagle and i think both insignias have been added, the dirt and grime doesnt match that on the cap , the white of the insignias backing is much cleaner and also the top of the cap has hardly any discoloration,

Hi davejb. Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure I agree with the dirt and grime theory. On my end the dirt and grime on the backing of the insignias matches perfectly. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're meaning? The reason the top of the cap doesn't have any discoloration is because that section of the cap is within the fold area. Look at the shots showing the sides of the cap. The white area at the top is shielded from the same dirt and elements that affected the exposed areas. Click on the photos to enlarge them, that may help show the detail I see on my end.

The cap is a fine original made by a known Paris maker of such things.

Well I stand corrected, if Bens happy with it , so be it, the thing that was putting me off mostly was the shape of the eagles head and the swastika wreath, but obviously different makers had different construction techniques, apologies for the premature reply

It's actualy very interesting how many KM caps were made in France but as yet, I don't know of any serious study in this area.
