Odd bird I found at my favorite spot... a white Kreigsmarine tropical helmet.

Problem is... I've never seen a white pith aside from examples with an eagle placed on the front of the helmet. Before I make an offer... anyone here knowledgeable about this helmet? If so, is the asking price within reason?

Been painted and it shouldn't be...... might have been done at the time but ruins it as an example in my opinion.

and asking top dollar anyway!

Oh, and the eagle is bad - looks to be a plastic shield - certainly NOT the original one.

Not a form I have ever encountered before. As there is the standard white piece having this variant makes no sense.

Thanks for the information guys. I've all but lost faith in this vendor. Sadly... he's the only one in all of San Antonio with a decent selection. 4 of his last 5 items I've looked for advice on turned out to be post-war duds.

A white painted Heer pith with a Heer 3 colour shield and a correct KM borderless eagle shield.

Probably messed with post war but sometimes supplies were disrupted especially in N Afrika so I would not say it never happened.
