Ben, I couldn't get the owner to shoot photos of the grommets, but here are a couple additional photos. He sent a lot more, but they're all blurry. If there is one thing I've learned in the few years I've been collecting, it's that 99% of the general population cannot shoot a clear close up shot to save their life! Here are the shots that turned out focused, plus another that didn't, but I'm including it anyway...

Good reference books are vital for this hobby.

Ade, you mentioned earlier about how good reference books are vital. With the internet having so much info these days, I sometime forget I have several reference books in my library. I found this exact cap (minus the embroidered cockade) in one of my books... "German Headgear In World War II" by Pat Moran & Jon Maguire (photo of the page below). One of the things I don't like about some of the books is that many only show one angle. Regardless, they're still very good at identifying a piece - giving you a starting point for more research.

I received the cap today and it's beautiful! I'm posting some MUCH better photos I just took with my camera. Click on the individual shots to see larger versions. No doubt this is a good one and I'm thrilled with it!...

I have to say that I like it alot myself! An excellent condition cap that is rarely seen! Nice pick up!

Thanks guys! I was actually going to inquire as to the cap's rarity. I've not come across one online, not even on the dealer sites. Would a cap like this be considered more rare (and more valuable) than the black Panzer caps? Also, what's with the khaki color? Is it considered tropical? I'm showing my weakness here... with regard to oddball caps, so bare with me
