Looks like Marc V. on the WAF ended up with it:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”

Yes, it is the same cap: what is shown in post 1 and what Marc V. brings.
He knows the collector, who owns it for many years. The other caps in that
thread from WAF will be from the same collector (as far as I can remember).
Two more photos, which I got from the collector, my good friend:
In a few weeks I will visit this collector again and see many of his new caps
and other newly purchased items myself. It will be a day of joy, a feast for

Bruce Hermann of Grenadier is going to be starting an auction soon.
The pic is preview of what will be in the initial offering--looks like the white kepi will be there:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Two of those caps are ex my collection. The SA kepi in the dark brown and Silesian yellow is also in the Saris book.
The black SS officer cap is in the Shea Beaver book.
Bid to own and bid for fame, is what I say.
I actually wanted the kepi back, but there you are.

I do not believe the hat met the reserve price at the auction, and the highest bid was $1700:
Lot # : 159 - SA Kepi for 1936 Olympic Games
