Concerning the fabric, the make, the sweatband and the useless eyelet I'd say not even German.

I will add that a common feature of faked caps is a light coating of age to make it look like the insignia were removed. In this case, the Adler and Cockade shadows are present as is seen commonly on fakes. NH

Im not too sure about that - German Marine caps usually also consist of 4 side panels and have piping and two holes for the German cockade to the right and the left of the seam instead of one central eyelet and the sweatband isn't perforated all around. But perhaps that has changed....
