That's a post war FRG cap of some kind. Mr. Mint likes this kind of drill.
I remember people wearing these, so that's why I can respond.
The stamps are all very, very silly items.
Hi and welcome,
I am thinking a post war cap made up to look like a WW2 Customs officers cap.
Got the style of the 1960's cap design written all over it in my opinion ( apart from the bit that says 1942 that is !).
I would not buy it if that is your option.... hope that helps.
cheers
Tony

Fb got in first I see !
A shame that people choose to ruin these postwar caps with spurious wartime stamps and insignia. These caps will be collectible in their own right one day - to some they already are - and by then the pool of them will have shrunk significantly due to this kind of practice. At least the insignia can be removed and replaced with relative ease.

Hoopla, 1960 something on the Isle of Sylt.
Thank you very much for your information.
Not even close to an original, just fake junk and some postwar Bundesgrenzschutz cord.
I have fond memories in the summer of 1969 being stuck at Kufstein enroute to Itter in Tirol and seeing such objects on the heads of persons in control.
All too droll.

I should photograph the stamp I got that day....or maybe I imagined it?
It could also be.
