no expert but it looks good.
the peak looks period but the piping on the top looks thick
overall looks good to me except the crooked insignia
i am not an expert - wait for Spandau or other visor specialists to reply.
Nice Signal ! but where is the radio ?
insignia restored for sure !
Hi
I have mixed feelings about this cap.....there are bits I like and bits I don't.
Positives are the crown material is good and the piping looks signals, nice bullion insignia.
I don't like the insides much, personal thing but do you have any pictures of the blousing under the sweatband ? The material looks like cotton rather than silk/rayon.....maybe the pictures but I would check. If it's cotton then avoid.
Also it has been crushed on the cap band and the bullion wreath looks very large on the band which rings a few alarm bells as I'm wondering if the cap band is the right size...should be 4.5cm wide.... also what condition is the cardboard behind the material on the cap band as a result of this ?
If the price is right, why not ? But I reckon there are nicer ones out there for your money.
Hope that helps.
cheers
Tony
I am with Tony. Insignia are not original to the hat, and the cords are East German. Sweatband is probably a replacement.
There are much better conditioned Signals visors out there right now--I would skip this one.
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Thank you guys, you helped me very much!!! The price is not expensive, but, at the end I think skip this one...
partisan
Well... I had a doubt about the sweatband also, but look the stitching job, the "Zig Zig" is possible in period and impossible to tell if the cords is post war or not with these pics... if metal original if plastic post war...
My feeling, that is a original cap with unusual sweatband size and replacement insignias, no problem with that all !
