It's one of the various patterns of drill tunic that were worn.

This is only one of a few images of an SS hat that I know of where it can be positively identified as being of the Imperial or earlier style.

Note the leather peak and second pattern eagle.

This cap is fairly plate shaped, actually, and is of early make. Messr. d'Alquen's pictures are very impressive additions to the work of our little site.

No, it is some random officer, and if I were better with pre 1914 uniforms, I could tell you what kind of officer. Someone else will tell you, though. This is Ludendorff.

No, that is someone else, as well, but who knows? Ludendorff is more interesting. You can find images of him in the 1930s in google up the wazoo, in fact.

This is the new biography of him which is excellent.
