Hi Funkymonkey,
In MHO it is a real cap (all caps are real caps) but not an original TR cap - very bad workmanship, no capmaker would have dared to sell something like that. As always, I'm no specialist for insignia but I suppose they are fakes, too.
Hopefully the real specialists will take a look and confirm my opinion - sorry for you.

Thanks for replying. I was a bit suspicious but then I spotted the cap the IWM have and it looks very similar. The link is here [URL="http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30100917"].
I can't zoom in on the site but it looks very similar.

That is the point - if it didn't even look similar nobody would consider buying it. The photo of the cap in your link shows some marked differences: compare for example the seam that runs around crown at the outside to the crown without that seam of your cap. Then have a look at the visor - terrible seam and the underneath is longer the upper part, etc. etc.
If simililarity was enough I'd be a rich man!

I see. I think I fell for a wear and tear trick. If I see the person I bought it from, I'll make sure he knows it's a fake and I'll be asking for my money back. Thanks for your help.

To be absolutely sure, you'd better wait for someone like stonemint to confirm my impression!

Hello,
This Einheitsfeldmütze is crap...
I cant comment the insignia as i have never been interested in that field of collecting, but who would add real WSS insignia to a very poor repro ?
Thanks
