    Mr Oht--
    Welcome to the forum.
These are two threads which you may want to start with--both depict fake hats:

Please do ask in the future and be prepared for some knocks with all this stuff, as it is not for the shy and bashful.

You will also note that this kind of question is asked on a daily and or hourly basis, and a handful of us roll the rock up the hill each hour whereupon it crashes down.

We need a way to say here in the opening scenes, more or less, if you are a beginner, and have no idea, do not go any further on this site until you look at Mr. Mint's piles of caps, good, bad, and in limbo... The way it is configured now is not easy to use, since, empirically, it gets missed quite often.

I do not mind helping in cases like this one, as I enjoy seeing pictures of my own caps as often as possible.

The tone of some answers arises from the fact that this kind of thing has happened thousands of times in the decade plus that Adrian and his troops have been together on line. The tone of the answer is not meant in a personal way.

I am a teacher by profession, so I am used to starting in the beginning over and over again. It does not really bother me, so long as persons are of sound character and decent soul. Mr, Sam Oht
is just such a person, but many are not, and the latter suck the marrow out of our tired and saggy bones.

These requirements are frequently not present, whereupon I am prone to insulting and cutting outbursts because of a significant character flaw.

    Happy hats.

Sam, that is not what they are saying, of course you can ask advice, thats what this forum,s experts are reknown for, what they are saying is that it would really help you in recognising the differences by conducting a bit of self research in future collecting, SS caps are for most, a minefield, they are a specialised area of collecting and rarely if at all come with a low price, the workmanship involved is in itself an art form and as with anything that has been produced to such a standard must be carefully examined. Once you have gained a little knowledge on the subject you can form a considered opinion and that will help you in all areas of collecting

There is no problem with aspiring to such as these, but it is worth mentioning the pitfalls that go with it and also remember that most of us will never own such as FB and a few others can. The caps are out there, but they are more expensive than many of us can afford to spend, but the appeal is not diminished by this and we call all live in the hope that perhaps we will get lucky and find one in a boot or yard sale for a fraction of its true value. Maybe as a teacher and if you are single you can afford the 1000's these cost, but unless you are very lucky don't expect to get one on the cheap.

The members here are always happy to help and if you maintain your interest you will be rewarded by the sharing of the hard earned knowledge of some here. You must also consider that for every serious collector in the making there are many who just want to know if they got a chance at a bargain which they can sell for big bucks at the first opportunity.

Good luck with your collecting and I hope you are here for the long haul.
    Regards,

    Jerry

    Whatever its just an opinion.
