Thoughts on this tropenhelm?

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on this Tropenhelm...real, fake or otherwise. It certainly appears aged. Not mint condition & chinstrap broken off but all over not too bad. There are no makers stamps apart from a 57 size stamp under liner band.

Looks like a 1st Model tropenhelm, but the shields look to have been replaced with the later types?

Yeah..I suspected the shields had been added later, but that's ok. Actually I'm not right up on the variations in the shields...can you suggest any good reference sites?
