Hi all - I have been offered this cap to buy. I am not sure if it is an early and irregular political visor or if is something else (maybe junk) as the color of the cap band and the chin strap throws me off. I do like the leather bill, cockade and the Benedict maker's mark looks correct. I have asked for some more photos and a full interior photo. Am I wasting my time? Any opinions and comments are greatly appreciated. I do like learning about the early stuff.Unusual political capUnusual political capUnusual political capUnusual political capUnusual political capUnusual political cap

Benedict was a period tailor in Berlin. The press button is period also, I think this is a period cap. The fact that the top is detachable is remarkable as is the fact that there is no colored piping (whih speaks against a political visor cap, perhaps Weimar-era civilian?). The chinstrap also is no political one. Hopefully the specialists will know what is was for.

Thank you for your comments, ErWeSa, I appreciate it. Your Weimar era observation makes sense to me. It is something I have never seen before.
