Better pic of the logo. Initials are F, B, & E over a spoked wheel. Logo is silver imprinted on the exterior of the shield:

I can only concur with the positive comments that have been made on this interesting piece. This is a real puzzlement.

Unlike the Luftwaffe/KM/SS, white-tops were never authorized for the Heer (even though they were allowed to wear a white uniform during the summer months).

I've always wondered why this was. Are we to assume it was merely a matter of idiosyncrasy on the part of the person or persons in charge of such decisions for the army?
