the brass pin plate? this isnt a red flag nither is the slight bend to it and is a feature on pre 1945 pins also mate,

an in hand would sort it out for ya!

you can also see where the planchet sheer line has been ground down and it leaves a flat part round the outer edge! pre RZM badges usually always have have the sheer lip still on there as seen under a loup, the quality machine had been fired up by this badges manufacture and evolution was under way, imo of course!

"The slight bend to it" was not what I was concerned about, but the brass pin plate was. Also didn't find the R and Z letters with the right "shape" (so glad I was wrong!!)

Your DJ badge is a fine badge and there's nothing wrong with it. It's from the Transitional period as the first badge posted below. As you can see, Zimmermann's markings are very proprietary to the company and just based on the "7" and "2", it has Zimmermann written all over it.
