I hope it's a genuine armband...but I like to hear your opinion.

I agree. The seperately attached white diamond and swastika is something I have never encountered in this common armband. As the diamond and swastika are mounted seperately, why does the swastika show through on the reverse? I do not like it and believe it is definitely 4th Reich.

This is weird it looks like the white diamond was applied, and then the swastika was embroidered through both the diamond and the armband, never seen this before

For me this armband is a very obvious modern copy. I'm sorry for the harshness that follows but Harti, you would have been able to establish that yourself BEFORE "catching" this armband had you taken some time to read this and other forums. These venues are getting clogged up with threads that would have been unnecessary if the poster had put some effort in and had spent some time reading instead of just using forums as nothing more than an authentication / instant gratification service.

I have a different point of view.
First at all this is a great and unique forum with an immense knowledge.
Of course I spent time in reading this forum and comparing my stuff with the stuff of other collectors.


But I think that first of all ev'rybody is proud to show his collectibles and especially for newbies it's very important to hear the opinion
of experienced collectors. And with ev'ry post you think it's unnecessary a newbie is getting more and more knowledge.
But this is only my opinion

I don't want to misuse this forum just for getting an instant gratification service.

In this case I still think that my HJ armband is genuine because I bought it from a well-known dealer.
I just wanted to your the opinions from other experienced collectors

Well, this isn't of course the only place you can read about HJ collectibles. There are other more specialised venues but if you added up all of the threads across all forums where someone asks whether a HJ armband is authentic I'm quite sure it would run to many hundreds, if not thousands over the years. That's a huge knowledgebase as I'm sure you will agree and I'm quite sure that you haven't read much of it because if you had, your own alarm bells would have gone off as soon as you saw your armband.

As a newbie, interested in history and wishing only to have authentic items in his collection, I would think that you would have a huge desire and hunger for all information that you can get your hands on. Seeking out that information is the active approach and in my opinion it produces a more balanced result. The downside is that it takes longer. A quicker route is the passive approach (open a thread on a forum, post some pics and ask everyone else to give you the answers). It is a sub-optimal approach in my opinion. However, as far as this thread is concerned, your mind was already made up because you got your armband from "a well-known dealer" and therefore belive it to be authentic. Well, dealers, even well-known dealers, sell fakes from time to time and for some that activity is a business model. They are often less knowledgeable than collectors in specific fields and unless you educate yourself before buying you will be "burned" at some point.

You say that you are a "newbie" and that you are interested in the experience of other collectors but here on this very thread you disregarded the opinion of Bob Coleman (who has been collecting longer than many collectors have been alive) in favour of your own opinion; an opinion that, by your own admission, has been formed solely through reading the HJ sub-forum here at Warrelics which currently archives 467 threads. I don't know how many of those relate to the HJ armband but it won't be a huge number.

Just a word of caution, many a "well-known dealer" has reproduction or bad items listed for sale. Using a dealers reputation or descriptor as an authentication service can be a slippery slope to travel. For me, this armband is odd looking as well.
