It looks like an old BM marked fake badge.
From what I remember there never was a RZM M1/122 maker of this badge.
They were I believe only ever made in solid gold marked with the 585 gold content stamp as there are only around 60 or so known recipients.
I haven't got one to compare it with...sadly
As for cleaning it up ...if it was mine I wouldn't bother as someone has gone to some trouble to make it look old.

It is a really awful production of what is a lovely badge.
I knew I had seen your badge somewhere. Below is an image from Ioffer. The badge was for sale at a 'bargain price' of just $2000.
Note the very same lifting base plate on the pin and that incorrectly placed diamond.
Is it the same background I ask myself?
I actually remember these badges being sold by a US dealer for around $35.
