Re: 57er Deutsches Kreuz in Gold grouping
[QUOTE=HPL2008;602957]I had always rather liked the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold [German Cross in Gold]. Given that a wartime piece admittedly costs way more than I spend on a single item, I decided to go for a 1957 version and have recently purchased this grouping. Hope you like it![QUOTE]
I certainly do ! super Deutsche Kreuz in Gold and accompanying bar and stick pins....does the cross have an open or closed hingeblock? it looks to be a St u L piece....
Prost ! Steve.

Re: 57er Deutsches Kreuz in Gold grouping
Well done Andreas! That's a fantastic grouping that's almost impossiible to upgrade. I agree with Steve, it certainly looks like a Steinhauer & Lucke in A1 condition, Nice!

Re: 57er Deutsches Kreuz in Gold grouping
That's a comprehensive group Andreas, nice pieces. The '57 stickpins are great, I haven't seen many and less than that for sale.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Does the cross have an open or closed hingeblock?
Here are two additional close-ups of the hinge assembly:

Sorry, no. The grouping was offered as coming from the legacy of the same recipient, but no additional information was provided.

Ausgezeichnet mein freund.
I have recently purchased a signals walking out tunic that has loops under the right breast pocket for a DKiG or for a Spanish cross. Since the DKiGs are so expensive i thought to buy a repro just for display purposes. But now like you i'm thinking to go for a '57 version.

Re: 57er Deutsches Kreuz in Gold grouping
Andreas....solid hinge block ! that's the type to own, pre-1968...enamelled red ring, later ones were painted, and always show signs of bleeding, notice the die flaw at 5 o'clock on the wreath..again this was cleared up on later dies, together with the type of pin fitted it is IMO an early 1960's cross.
Great find !
Prost ! Steve.
