they say the ek1 is magnetic and is 3 peice i am still waiting for pictures

Then it is mid to late production...the hinge block will determine......it is uncertain when St u L switched to non magnetic cores....sometime in the early to mid 1970's it is believed, but they switched to open hinge blocks in 1968.

Tom........on the Deutsche Kreuz in Gold it is a genuine one, but to date check on the hinge block as the EK I, and the "red ring",was early/mid enamaled, for late pieces painted, how to tell, painted rings ALWAYS bleed some where along their circumfrance.......
