Here is a female young graduate of the Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt, the oldest of its kind in Europe (founded by Empress Maria Theresa) and a place of much tradition and heritage.
And here is a female soldier on deployment with NATO's KFOR in Kosvo, where the Austrians play an important role in the ranks of other NATO countries, even though Austria is not a NATO member.
Since the explosion of the financial crisis in 2008 as well as the impending roll up of the Afghan ISAF mission, these armies are all disappearing rather rapidly, too, which is quite sad. This generalization applies to the Austrians as well, who are cutting their force structure, their budget, and much of what made the Bundesheer a fine thing. No less true for the Bundeswehr, as well, which is rapidly shrinking to the size of the Reichswehr.
Without wanting to sound a note of pissant ism, I would subject said tunic to extra scrutiny to its authenticity, as such a figure in the Austrian military is super rare.
