The Austrians do wear the peaked cap more than the Piefkes.

Regarding the original uniform (which is fantastic)l, the hat is probably worth 2 or 3 times as much as the uniform. At least that is the case with older general's hats. Which is why I have several general's uniforms but no general's hats

Yes, the old peaked caps are really expensive. In many cases the caps cost more than 500€.
