I'm a collector of third reich militaria...but I was a Bundeswehr-soldier in a NATO headquarter for 12 years...so I guess I'm also a little bit knowledgeable
In the meantime I found one more picture from the town of Hameln in germany
The next picture is a foto of a Fahnenband certificate awarded in 1994
translation:
In the spirit of the common task and in recognition of the services rendered in Germany in the cause of peace and freedom
13th Signal Regiment (Radio)
has been awarded the
Fahnenband of the Federal Republic of Germany
Signed
The Federal Minister of Defence
Bonn 2 July 1994
This is the official award regulation...
The Bundesprasident of the Federal Republik of Germany has agreed, to the proposal of the Federal Minister of Defence to present allied units of battalion or equivalent size upwards who leave the Federal Republik of Germany after five years or more service with a "Fahnenband" in recognition of their services.
The front of the "Fahnenbander"is inscribed from bottom to top with the following text:
Einsatz Fur Frieden und Freiheit.
Whilst the reverse has:
Bundesrepublik Deutschland [Year of awarding]

Hi hartri, Thank you once again for your information and pictures!!!! Now, a question for you. I note that the Certificate of Award is in the name of the Federal Minister of Defence and my question is, were these streamers awarded to Air Force and Naval elements also or only Army???
Cheers Michael
PS You did not answere my question in Post 11??
I can't find any foreign Air Force or Naval element the Fahnenband of the Federal Republic of Germany was given to.
There were only german Air Force or Naval elements which received it

Cheers Ralph, I must be blind as well as stupid!!

Hi Harti, I did not realise that these steamers were both national (German) and international. Having awarded them to Army units, it seems a bit strange that AF/N units were excluded? I have two of them and was hoping that RAF units received them so I could have added one to my RAF collection. Aw well never mind. I wrote to the Bundeswehr in the Bendler Building a few weeks ago re beret badges and received a very informative response from a Hauptman. What TR gear are you interested in?
Cheers Michael
Hi Michael, I'm not sure if AF/N units were excluded...and I guess my list is not complete. There is no Fahnenband awarded in 1992...and your Band has the 1992 on it. So there must be a ceremony in this year
The main thing I'm collecting are flags...
