Double catch 57er U-Boot Kriegsabzeichen......

One of the other 57er badges to land on my doorstep this past week.......An early production (1960'ish) U-Boot Kriegsabzeichen, not the earliest by its tapering pin, but these double catch badges were from around 1960 on.....An St u L badge made example, nicely frosted...goes well with my later production version....now to find an earlier thin pin version !

Adrian, this type of catch is not seen very often and was for that short time on all types of war badges and even examples of EK I's from around the 1960 date....it is even rarer to see after that date. IMO they are a rare find....

I guess being that early they might be made from war time frames?

I would tend to think more "Wartime dies" and hardware, than actual WW2 made frames...remember the Allied commission that roamed post war Germany snapping up precious metals from medal makers as reparations....unless they were made of non precious metals....
