GSG9 Helmet?

Article about: Hi all. Picked this up in a surplus shop. Obviously German in origin and made in 1988 judging by the label. I have seen photos of similar helmets being used by GSG 9 but with a sumpftarn cov

The men in the third photo are indeed East German. (Note camo pattern and belt buckles.)
Yep DDR personnel without a doubt (as named by James C ). The pistols look to be the Soviet Makarov PM (manufactured in DDR by Thalemann, a design inspired by and similar in appearance to the German Walther PK). Most likey the PMM an updated design from the 90s with a higher muzzle velocity. Still produced in Germany today I believe. As for the helmet I am no wiser than anyone else here but if it helps I believe that Spr SH on the label stands for "Springer (Jumper as in parachutist) though a bit heavy for a para helmet I feel!! or Sprengstoff (explosives) Schutzhelm (protective helmet). Native German speakers input here would be good

A very interesting and unusual piece.
Thanks for showing and please be sure to update here when you do identify it

I am a native speaker but admittedly don't know the first thing about helmets... Still, for what it's worth, I agree that "SH" is almost certainly the abbreviation for "Schutzhelm". I don't believe the term "Sprengstoff" would be used in this context. "Sprengstoffschutzhelm" ("explosives protection helmet" or "helmet, protection, explosives")... Naw, that just sounds wrong. "Springerschutzhelm" seems far more likely to me.

Of course, Ulbrichts are still in business, so maybe it's worth a try contacting them directly with a request for identification of this helmet.

Thanks for all the input guys. I have learned a lot about a helmet I picked up as a curiosity. And thanks HPL for the link. I hadn't thought to contact them but have done so now so hopefully they will reply with some information.
