"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

As for the helmet I am no wiser than anyone else here but if it helps I believe that Spr SH on the label stands for "Springer (Jumper as in parachutist) though a bit heavy for a para helmet I feel!! or Sprengstoff (explosives) Schutzhelm (protective helmet). Native German speakers input here would be good
I am a native speaker but admittedly don't know the first thing about helmets... Still, for what it's worth, I agree that "SH" is almost certainly the abbreviation for "Schutzhelm". I don't believe the term "Sprengstoff" would be used in this context. "Sprengstoffschutzhelm" ("explosives protection helmet" or "helmet, protection, explosives")... Naw, that just sounds wrong. "Springerschutzhelm" seems far more likely to me.
Of course, Ulbrichts are still in business, so maybe it's worth a try contacting them directly with a request for identification of this helmet.

Thanks for all the input guys. I have learned a lot about a helmet I picked up as a curiosity. And thanks HPL for the link. I hadn't thought to contact them but have done so now so hopefully they will reply with some information.
