    Good afternoon gents,

I am posting this here because it seems to me to be German and an M1 clone but I just don't recognise it.

It is being offered as an "American steel helmet" which it clearly isn't. The liner looks German but I don't reconise it as any of the BW variants.

My interest in it is because I have a very nice liner for the M56 "zweiteilige" but no steel shell and as this one is for sale at a really low price whether it would do as a display "gap filler" until I find an authentic BW item?

I don't specialise in steel helmets but I do have a few and I would like to complete a "representative set" of German models from WWI to composite and to be honest the "naked" liner sitting on my helmet shelf is starting to irritate

To my eyes this one looks visually correct and that it might be such a gap filler but I am unsure.
Any assistance would be much appreciated but also, if anyone can point me towards the real thing (with or without liner) I should be most grateful.

    Thanks

Ps The paint on the shell does look pristine and seems to be something other than BW Olivgrun so I wonder if this is a newly manufactured repro?

Not sure of the country of origin BUT it’s not a US m1 helmet.

They did them with perforated liner fingers and unperforated Steve.
Edit. Misunderstood what you meant mate, yep same lid different pattern liner.

    Thanks lads!
I was thinking Austrian but just wasn't sure. So, given that I have a really good German liner I think this will be a good gap filler (with appropriate paint job) until I find the real Mcoy!
