nah thats ok im trying to get a rough date of the shell but the heat stamp you gave as 499A doesn't seem right as its to low for a swivel bail these came into use in November 43 & by this point the numbers were up in the 700's so i was thinking maybe be a refurbished fixed bail shell to a swivel version but as its a rear seamed shell that wont be right so im a little confused at the mo are you sure about the number ????

What would this be worth as a rough estiment? I saw some of these on auction sites for 50 to couple hundred dollars so I'm wondering.

in its present state $50 maybe i little more due to the make of the shell but as its been repainted & reissued a few times it makes it less sort after then what it would have been if it was still in its original WW2 form also the fact it has original chin straps may go in its favor as well.
