Aus m1

Article about: this a Australian army used helmet. the liner is Australian made but the helmet shell is US. I can not with out force take the liner out as the aus liners had a very thick sand in the paint

Maybe the 'Bulgarian contract' fell through?
Or they made too many liners?

    Great posts and links guys.
Got out my other two helmets to check the stamps:
    R over FB
    R over GB
    and R over LJ
The 'LJ' is a much lighter shade of green although all three helmets seem to have the original paint.
Could the letters be a date code?

An easy way to pick a Aussie built Nam era M-1 is that they always have Red primer underneath

I bought this helmet only really for the liner ,
Had a near minty used US P64 , DSA dated 64 headband in it.
The chap I got it off had it as is for over 40 years.
