Maybe the 'Bulgarian contract' fell through?
Or they made too many liners?

Great posts and links guys.
Got out my other two helmets to check the stamps:
R over FB
R over GB
and R over LJ
The 'LJ' is a much lighter shade of green although all three helmets seem to have the original paint.
Could the letters be a date code?
Oz.
I have some images of two more Australian helmets both have the arrow stamp in the sweat band.. there numbers both CAT NO with a 50. the other liner has no,, cat no, stamp but the same numbers.
the first helmet I showed on this this thread just letting you guys no the liner in that will not budge its been tougher for a while.
We will get to the bottom of this eventually - with some more digging.

Great thread ,
I recently picked up one marked R over CE , just to add to the list .
An easy way to pick a Aussie built Nam era M-1 is that they always have Red primer underneath
I bought this helmet only really for the liner ,
Had a near minty used US P64 , DSA dated 64 headband in it.
The chap I got it off had it as is for over 40 years.
