Ebay M1

Article about: I took a chance on this for £10, and won it. Any guesses what's under there? It's not arrived yet, I've just bought it. This is the only picture. I do like a gamble on these, you never know.

im going to have a guess at a belguim m51 due to the colouration of the sand texture through the foliage slit but having said that im not familiar with the chinstrap design poking out

It's arrived, and not quite what I thought it would be. No steel pot!

Just a heavily overpainted US liner under the cover.

Though the date on the sweatband is a little difficult to see, the liner and sweatband are both dated 1969. Not bad.

The cover is dated 78, so that can be put away in my now overfilled "covers" drawer!

Also in the helmet was this nylon chinstrap, I have no idea what this is.

You win some, you lose some! At least this one provided some excitement and didn't break the bank!

Yup, nothing spectacular this time. It's better than putting it on the horses I suppose!

Yes, both dated 69 too. It just so happens I have a really salty pot that would suit that for a late Vietnam setup. The paint will match too!
Still a little peeved there was no pot though.

Was it listed as helmet in the description?

    And I quote:

"US Marines Vietnam Kevlar Helmet - Camouflage "

It's not a problem, I knew the description was way off, I just took a chance.
I've had a few of these pay off with something nice, a couple sort of neutral like this one, and some
    terrible stuff too.
Just a bit of fun really, and it keeps me from roaming the streets.
    Best Regards,

    Andy
