I get the sneaking suspicion that these US helmets you've posted from
    wherever are fakes.

Why would a post war paint job be so worn ? - and if the emblems
were to be removed to reissue the helmet, why weren't they
    removed completely.........?

    Patch is 'ETO Advanced Base'.
    Regards,

    Steve.

I agree with Walkwolf, if it was a combat helmet then the state of it could be accepted. But for a post war lid it is hard to believe.

IMO, these emblems would not be accepted or regulation on a helmet
during the war. As well, the chinstraps do not match the condition
    of the lid..........

I would agree with the condition statement, do you have internal pictures.
Steve why would the emblems be against reg. ? I have seen many period pictures of 4th ID, 99thID, and 29thID etc soldiers with their unit emblem painted on their helmet. Would they have different regs since its a "Base unit" ?

Far too detailed for me, but it's only a hunch. I'd like to see
a war-time pic of this emblem on a helmet..........

I thought you meant all emblems were against reg, I would agree I have never seen this emblem in a period photo on a M1, but I think the gents back then were quite artistic.
Here is a nice 99th emblem that is some what detailed, my favorite part of the picture though is the m3 holster.

Luxembourg, are you trying to sell these or looking to buy? Can you post more pictures of the inside / straps etc for evaluation? Why is there a leather chinstrap if it is only the pot?

Hello, all I can say is that that the helmet was repainted, so my friend removed the paint and that's what appeared. Waldwolf if you read my first post I said that it is only the shell, so not the chinstrap.
He added a post war liner to complet the lid.
No this helmet is in the collection of a friend.

    Greetings

That clarifies some things I think the paint to be authentic but possibly postwar.
