hello, i have finally purchased my first hawley liner for 153 dollars. i know it is in not to good of condition but i think it has great character. it has WAR IS HELL scratched inside and it still retains its leather strap fully intact. i love it and dont think that if i overpayed, that i payed a whole lot more then it is worth. at least i dont habve to get any parts

Sadly no, I'm trying to grab some of the modern helmets and tactical gear cheaply before the new ech helmet comes out in the next year or two. The helmets we use now are sweet, but I always have an eye out for something I like.

Patches 3 I'll give you a quick story about those I worked in a helmet shop at Ft. Leonard Wood Mo. reconditioning helmet liners for the M-1 helmets used then about 73 or so We would tear the Kakhi canvas out of the WW2 era helmet liners and Korea era and rerivit the new canvass vietnam era OD lining in them repaint them on the outside. I remember about one in 10 or more being the Hawley liner now years after seeing them and SFC in charge would say "Oh throw those paper liners from WW2 in the dumpster they are too fragile to waist the time reworking." so if I knew what I know now boy anyway nice rare hard to come by US liner. timothy

I am sure we came across some I just remember the pressed paper ones cracked and really fragile that is why Sarge said throw them away we did take off the leather chinstraps to reuse. We had a whole building of liners next to the "Helmet Shop" that is what it was called we used prisoners from the Stockade to work on them. I was a MP that was there to escort the workers back to stockade but did help with the work as it was fun. timothy
