Article about: Hi Fellow collectors, just wanted to share one of my favourite helmets with you, this one has no visible heatstamp as I have thoroughly looked in the correct areas, but assume it is 1942 Era.

Well thanxs for the pics opex this looks like a Schlueter to me looking at the distinctive curve of the rim and the chinstrap loops, throws a differant light on things now, still could be wrong but just a gut feeling on this one.......................

The bails look fine to me.
I have seen them bent on other helmets in the past.
The paint looks worn off and not much corking left.
Also it appears to have been repainted at some point.
Over all not a bad lid.

Thanks for the information Jake a Schlueter does add more interest for me in my research.

I cannot find any obvious signs that it was originally a swivel bale and converted to look like a fixed, I have such an example which was fairly well done, but there are give away signs that it was converted

Thanks anton, I also feel the bales are fine, and I agree it has definitely had a darker green paint finish at one point, there are feint brush strokes in the finish, I am aware that M1's were repainted in a darker shade of green for the Korean war era..maybe this is this the case with this one??
