well the 872B one is around March 1944 manufacture the second one cant help with without all the numbers as for the third one there must be a seam some where either to the front or back it just must be well hidden as for the numbers there were occasions this was either missed in production or it ended up else where sometimes even turning up on the outside which if thats the case you'll not find it.

any chance of a close up of the paint finish on the outside of the steel shells ?

looks like they've had a 1950's repaint from those pictures ?

the "F" in the two liners means they're made by FIRESTONE the other is a WESTINGHOUSE/CAPAC 1950's liner

as for that other heat stamp number there maybe a number missing maybe hidden by paint if its lightly stamped as 012D is not quiet right ?

the Lieutenant Colonel oak leaf looks to be glued on ???

Maybe the number is wrong. Its alot of paint there. Yes it looks like the mark is glued on.

yeah numbers can easily be obscured by paint but it makes no difference as it has a front seam so it dates from November 1943 onwards as this was when the swivel bail was introduced.

cant really say whether the Lieutenant Colonel oak leaf is original as im not sure how they would of attached it to the shell in the 1950's in know during WW2 they were normally welded on.
