Help Identifying US M1 liner..?

not the main chin strap but the secondary one for the liner like the pics i have shown
ahh i see. thank you.
it seems that this "chin strap" i have on the liner is actually the scrim band, modified as a chin strap. i'm quite sad actually. if i can find the pot i would've liked to have the scrim band in tact

I think the specs for the helmet were changed in 1956. Many items of field gear were updated then. That liner did indeed have a leather liner chinstrap, as on WW2 helmets. FWIW KW helmets had the grommet hole in front.

early VN era liners still had the leather chin strap but no grommet hole but when they changed the style of the webbing lay out they also did away with the chin strap as well.
