    Default Identify my m1!

I was given this m1 at the same time as a German aluminum Fire/Police helmet by my father who obtained it from my grandfather who served in the ETO, but at the time the German helmet held more of my interest. I do not believe this to be my grandfathers, because he was AAF, and this helmet has naval stampings in the metal for the chin strap.

What i would like to know, is this helmet ww2, or post war? I received it with no liner and no other information about it.

It has fixed rings for the chin strap, not swivels like i have read about later model m1s.

Feel free to ask for more pictures if the ones provided do not suffice!

    Stamping inside reads 6636

The seam is on the rear of the helmet

    Closeups of the buckle

And the ring. or am i using the wrong termination?

Post-war straps for sure - I'd say it was late 50's or 60's.........

There are other members who study these seriously,
and will give you a more accurate answer.
