    Have found a faint stamp,Done a little rubbing with pencil and paper and found what looks like 1200

    Well there you go Gary late 44 McCord rear seamed lid with original olive drab+cork case closed...regards Dave.

    As per Wikipedia.org. I assume they are incorrect? Iv'e been told they are not quite percise.

    I stand corrected. There were other production dates from 1950-1961 and 1961-1965 then 1965-1972. I see why folks tell me not to rely too much on Wikipedia.org. I guess I should stick with the M1917 models which I know a bit better than the M1's.

    my suggestion buy a reference book don't go by Wikipedia the change from front seem the rear seem happened around November 1944 & also NAM era M-1's are also known as low domes because the height of the dome is slightly lower than WW2 shells.

    with that heat stamp you're looking at a rough date of about march 1945

    £20 for a complete late WW2 M-1 is an extremely good bargain
