Im afraid Nick is correct IMO also the chin straps look like repos as far as im led to believe the male snaps should be made of nickel not copper or brass on original M2s .
Sorry for the bad news, get your money back or wait and see what the usa forum says. But i think they will rip it.

Could you please explain this to me, about the bale's and the paint. I am new to M1 helmets and the person that I received this from, said that he received it from the veteran himself.

You have to believe the item, not the story - and know your subject. Using the 'I got it
from the Veteran' tactic is commonly used by sellers to verify militaria these days.
Also, if it really did come from a Vet, he could have purchased it the week before
you bought it.

It is a very good repro of an expensive helmet. I've seen them sell for around
$200 or so, and if it cost you somewhere near that price, I wouldn't
be too worried.........

Yea I'll keep it. Pretty cool I think. Just have to display it as a repo. No big deal. I really wish I knew more about repos and real. I did alot of homework on the iron cross but thats the only thing.

Lol - It is easier ( and perhaps wiser ) to collect/focus in only
one or two areas - but sooner or later, you end up
interested in everything.........!

There are just so many areas to focus on and know. I would like to start figuring out about helmets and awards. Like how people tell right away if a infantry award is fake or not.
