M1 helmet....is it 1961/65 type

Hello all, my son gave me this lid as a present, he got it from a friend in the states, no liner or strap with it and the only stamp is a 4 digit number 8702
it looks like it has 2 coats of paint , a olive matt covered by the egg shell olive.
So i was wondering what M1 VARATION it is, and the year? thanks..

this would be from the 1960's onwards theres no way of putting an exact date on these.

you could buy the chin straps off ebay along with a liner & camo cover to make a complete helmet
