M1 helmet on ebay

Hello, I would like opinions on this helmet on ebay at the moment with regard to originality of paint and strap. I understand it may not be possible to determine on the basis of these pictures but if any help can be given it would be appreciated. Douglas

From what I know this looks correct, the paint has the steel of the helmet under it, alright. I would expect more rust but oh well.
As for the helmet itself it is a Front seam rather than Rear seam and the chinstrap is stitched on. All in all I would say this is good for the time period WWII-Korea.
Look for a serial #...
It'll help determine if it's 1944-1945 war time production or Post war

Thanks very much for your response. Im new to M1 helmets, but having read up on the subject I was under the impression front seam helmets are all wartime, the change to rear seam having occurred in 1944. You are saying its the other way round, are you sure that that's correct?

Doug chinstraps are original but paintwork is out the window mate nothing wartime in the look at all of this lid................

So maybe paint isn't. That's one thing I couldn't tell. But the shell itself seems correct. It'd be a good restoration prodject. My field is really German stuff though

I agree with ruddersrangers44.
Straps look OK but the paint stinks.
No corking like with the original paint.
Could have been stripped and then repainted and then that paint wore away.

The paint work has been re-done but it is a genuine front seam.I agree (for what it's worth!!) That this lid has been played with but if you can get it cheap enough SNAP IT UP!! Leon.
