M1 Helmet Liner Rookie

Does the color and texture on an M1 helmet liner have anything to do with when it was made? How about the colors and patterns inside the helmet? Thank you.

these liners are late 70's manufactured & no the colour & texture have nothing to do with the when they were made but the patterns & colour of the inside dose as well as the fact they have the clip in style webbing rather then the fixed style.

Thanks for the help, Nick. Do the different shades of OD, mean anything at all? Rank? Military Branch? Job? Does the silica sand finish on some of them have a purpose? Happen to know?

the colour of the outer finish has no meaning its just either the paint used by the factory making them or they've been repainted when in use.
