I went to a local antique shop that has a rather large militaria section.

    Photos of the shop:

I walked out with this M3 FLAK helmet for $150. I figure with the upcoming miniseries on the 8th Air Force, these will become highly desirable.

Opinions on the helmet would be greatly appreciated!

    Good helmet no problem.
I can not find any antique store in Chicago that sell any ww1 or ww2 stuff.
    Lucky you.

    Thanks, Chris.

The store had a mix of good and bad things. Most items were overpriced but this one seemed reasonable to me and the shop owner was willing to haggle.

Nice one Joe! .... there are a LOT of desirable TR badges in that cabinet - I wonder how many are actually legit??
Thats the problem with antique stores..... it looks old so never let the facts get in the way

    Cheers, Dan

Yeah... Place was a mine field. The MG42 in the case was priced at $2.5K and the owner said he would go as low as $2,000

Nice lid at a reasonable price. Is the flocked coating still present on the exterior? This was designed to stop exposed skin freezing to it at sub-zero temperatures at high altitude. There should also be felt pads inside the earflaps but these are often missing.

Traces of flocking on the outside and traces of the ear pads. TONS of flocking remains on the inside.
