they dont cost much and they are nice collectables

I would like to find a Belgian paratrooper M71 helmet that looks like the M1 but has a French F1 type liner inside

collecting the different variations is lots of fun

WWII & early 1950's US helmets also had the hole on the front, this could also be used for insignia to be attached and air ventilation

most people call it the insignia hole on the front

Ok, I mentioned earlier that the liner had a stamp on the inside of the liner with manufacturer details and the date 1954.

Oh, and whats the camo cover on the second picture you posted, looks really familiar :O

    Helmet dictionary

the marking in your liner ABL stands for: Armée Belge/Belgisch Leger (Belgian army)

    Belgian M71

    BELGIAN PARA M71

The para helmet Mod. 71 is a German helmet with a shell shaped after the US M1 and the liner and chinstrap of the type mounted on the French F1M78. This one has a Belgian Army pattern camo cover

    My first M1

the camo cover is known as Belgian "Jigsaw pattern camo"
