My new M1's

just picked up some M1's for the collection - I was very lucky so far for 2012

Also hope to get this M1 with Hood liner soon!!

1. McCord with CAPAC liner and 2nd pattern camo cover
2. McCord with Westinghouse liner and 1944 netting with band
3. MCord with St Clair liner
4. McCord with Seaman liner - captains bars on the helmet and liner
5. McCord with Hood liner and blue sweat band (near future)

Also looking for a M1C paratrooper so saving money now and hope to find one!!

Great M-1s, the first one must have cost a fair amount. The cover looks very minty!
I recently passed up buying a WWII era with a blue sweatband, can anyone fill me in on why they were that colour? Any significance?

those types of sweatbands were made with vinyl rather then leather & are very hard to come by check here Three Vinyl Sweatbands - U.S. Militaria Forum

Well the McCord with Hood liner and blue sweat band (near future)
is now in the collection. The addiction continues as I pulled the trigger on this one over the weekend.

M-1 Helmet with early Hawley Fiber Liner (1st pattern), Fixed Bale and Front seam. Still has original Chin Strap and has a full sweat band.

Question - when did the US start putting the full sweat band on the early Fiber liners? Late 42? I know the 1st pattern had the half sweatband.

the sweatband was probably replaced at some point in its life with what ever was available at the time.
