Re: Need help on this M1 helmet
from those pic's it looks like it could be a mix of both the shell is a front seamed WW2 era shell then reissued with a vietnam era liner so you have a bit of both era's

Re: Need help on this M1 helmet
Hi,
A good clue to a ww2 shell reissued for Nam, is the apple green
paint. I would find a nice ww2 issue liner for it.

looks like the shell has the sand / silca paint texture? probablly repainted during the Vietnam era , all you need is Vietnam era clamp on chin straps and camo cover with helmet band
if the shell is repainted a Vietnam era liner like the one in it now is correct

Re: Need help on this M1 helmet

if the paint texture has the fine sand grit type texture, it can only work for Korean War or Vietnam or later
since the sand texture was used from 1951 - 1988
the current liner is 1965 or later
it would be easiest to build it into a full Vietnam war helmet
