Hmmmm, not many comments, you are allowed to say you hate it/I'm crazy etc you know!
For the record, I paid nowhere near the price of the first few sold.
Any thoughts as to why there is an anchor stamp on a 1945 production chinstrap?
For some background info on these, they were being sold as scrap along with many other parts, including aircraft parts. I've been in contact with the seller and he seems decent enough.

I like it Andy, But I don’t know if I would have bought one, I still prefer the been there look.
You can clearly see the sharpness on the cork, this detail on other helmets to me shows if they have been repainted or not.
Am I reading the stamp correct made around October 44 and sent out April 45, OD 7 straps I did not know they were fitted this early.
I don’t know about the anchor marked buckle could the seller have added post war chin straps.

From having long and ongoing conversations wit the seller, I'm pretty convinced that the chinstrap came from the case, which will upset a few apple carts. It certainly surprised me. Same for the OD7 straps.

I think it looks outstanding, This coming from a guy who has an early fix bail that I think was used as a cooking pot!!!!
Just Beautiful!!!! Most definitely a gem of M1 helmets!
This same seller also had a very nice looking M3 flak helmets that went for a pretty penny.
This guy really found a great deal in some surplus sale.

I like any helmet as long as it is authentic minty or salty I take them all
