    Well IMO you did not overpay and I actually had this one on my watch list as I found it an interesting example the purist M-1 collector may not find it appealing but it is a well known fact that liners and components were swapped out in these helmets to keep them serviceable I would display it on my shelf.

    After looking at the pics, it appears to have a cross on both sides, I Havnt got it in yet but thanks for pointing that out to me, maybe a medic helmet liner

    great addition and to reiterate what mark said i notice its had the last chinstrap upgrade circa mid 1980's before the pasgt's introduction ,nice though all the same

    Hi James, are you talking about the chin strap on the liner or helmet?, I have another late war m1(72-73 belong to my dad) that has the same chin strap from what I can see,I do have a veitnam era chin strap that I can add to it if that's the case

    James is referring to the chinstrap on the helmet a strange mix of parts this one and very probably done by a collector and or novice but one never knows.
