Nobody can say without province weather this lid took part in overlord or any other European battle?
What can be said is it is a WWII era helmet picked up in a flea market in France.
Nobody can say for sure whether it took part in any battle during the war.
It could have been sent/taken to France after the war.
Of course the complete opposite is possible, but there is no proof either way.
Frankly, if it was being sold on ebay I would bid no more than I would for a FS FB with no chin straps.
That being said, it is a nice salty helmet.
Maybe it was found in a barn ; )
The person that was selling the helmet was a farmer from Colleville sur mere that was selling some of his stuff.
So I am sure this was a combat use helmet from Normandy.

Thank you guys.

Chris, I am not saying you are wrong.
All I am saying is unfortunately there is no way of proving it was ever used in combat.
Even if the farmer said he found it in a barn in Normandy, all you would have is a story.
I am not saying it is not a nice helmet but I wouldnt pay a premium for it based on a story or where you purchased it.
Basically I am saying: "just admire it for what it is.
Its a nice salty lid."
Thank you.
