post liner with old unit decals ?

Hello gentlemen
Just picked up this post war marked m1 liner US 6 M 1 1 in an estate sale .

But -It has WW2 unit decals on it from the 78th and 311th infantry?
Is this a tribute helmet liner sent back to family members?
The sweat band looks used.
Either way its okay as my dad's armored division was attached to the 78th during the war so I am thrilled to have found it.
Just a little confused at the mix and match.
Any help appreciated.

The decals were likely applied late 1950's/early 60's.
Amazed it's in such good condition.........!
