    G'day all,

This caught my eye. Another ebay item.

Appears to be a standard 1970's rear-seam Australian issue M1 (At least the liner points to this). Completely passable item, but what caught my eye is (what appears to be) sewn on khaki WWII era chinstraps. I know the pics are terrible but what do you think is going on here? Cheers!

It seems to me that the shell has been reissued several times. The hardware on the long end of the sewn on straps looks like it is WWII vintage, and the hook on the short end is the lightweight quick release type that was used post War with the ball assembly. The liner is much later. The shell has more than paid for itself throughout its service life. Jim G.
